How to add an image to a PDF
- Open your PDF by selecting it or dragging it onto the page.
- Go to the page you want with the thumbnails, then choose Add image and pick a JPG, PNG or WebP file from your device.
- Drag the image into position and use the corner handles to resize or rotate it.
- Repeat on other pages if needed, then click Download.
Common reasons to insert an image
- Putting a company logo on a letter, quote or invoice that was exported without one.
- Adding a passport-size photo to an application form.
- Stamping a scanned seal, "Paid" stamp or approval mark on a document.
- Inserting a chart, map or screenshot next to the text that refers to it.
If you want to turn whole pictures into PDF pages rather than place them on existing pages, use JPG to PDF or PNG to PDF instead.
Whether it is a logo, a photo or a scanned stamp, adding an image to a PDF takes a few clicks, and the picture is embedded as real image content in the file.
Transparency and image quality
PNG and WebP images with transparent backgrounds keep their transparency, which is ideal for logos and signatures that should sit cleanly on top of the page. JPG images are always rectangular, so a white JPG background will show as a white block over coloured areas. To clean up a logo, run it through Remove Image Background first.
The picture is embedded without lowering its resolution, so it stays sharp when printed. A large camera photo can noticeably increase the PDF's size; if that matters, shrink the image with Resize Image before inserting it, or run the finished file through Compress PDF.
Private by design
Both the PDF and the image are processed inside your browser. Neither file is uploaded, which makes this tool safe for documents containing personal photos or ID scans.
Frequently asked questions
Which image formats can I insert?
JPG, PNG and WebP images work in all modern browsers. Convert HEIC or TIFF photos to JPG first with the HEIC to JPG or TIFF to JPG tools.
Will my image lose quality?
No resolution is removed when the image is embedded. It looks as sharp as the original at the size you place it.
Can I rotate the inserted image?
Yes. Use the rotation handle above the selected image, then fine-tune its position and size.
Can I add the same logo to several pages?
Yes. Go to each page and add the image there. Each placement can have its own size and position.
Why did my PDF get much bigger?
High-resolution photos contain a lot of data. Resize the image before inserting it, or compress the finished PDF.
