How to watermark images
- Add the photos you want to watermark.
- Choose a text watermark or upload a logo, ideally a PNG with a transparent background.
- Set the opacity, size and position, or tile the watermark across the image.
- Apply the watermark and download the images, or all of them as a ZIP.
Choosing a watermark
A text watermark such as © Your Name or your website address is quick to set up and easy to read. A logo looks more professional; use a PNG with a transparent background so only the mark itself appears on the photo, not a white box around it. Keep the text short so it stays legible when the photo is shown small.
Placement and opacity
A small mark in a corner at 30–50% opacity credits your work without distracting from it, which suits portfolios and social posts. For proofs of paid work, such as event photos sent for selection, a larger, centred or tiled watermark at lower opacity makes the image hard to reuse while keeping it viewable. For tiled watermarks, keep the spacing generous so the photo stays pleasant to look at while still being covered.
What a watermark can and can't do
Watermarks deter casual copying and make sure people know where an image came from, but a determined person can crop or retouch them away, especially when placed in a corner. Keep your unmarked originals safe. For PDFs, use Add Watermark; to add captions rather than branding, use Add Text to Image.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my logo have a white box around it?
Your logo file has a solid background. Use a PNG with transparency, or remove the background first with the background remover.
Can I watermark many photos at once?
Yes. Add a batch and download all watermarked images as a ZIP.
What opacity should I use?
30–50% for subtle credit; lower opacity with a larger or tiled mark for proofs.
Can a watermark be removed later?
Not from the downloaded file by this tool, so keep your originals. Others may crop or edit out simple corner marks.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Watermarking runs in your browser.
