How to insert pages into a PDF

  1. Select the main PDF you want to add pages to.
  2. Choose the second PDF that contains the pages to insert.
  3. Pick which pages of the second file to insert and where they should go in the main document.
  4. Click insert and download the updated PDF.

Insert instead of merging

Merging places whole files one after another. Inserting is more precise: it slots pages into the middle of a document. Typical examples are adding a signed page back into a contract, placing a new chart after the page that discusses it, or adding a cover letter in front of an application.

Choosing the position

Positions refer to pages of the main document as they appear in the file. Inserting "after page 3" puts the new pages between the current pages 3 and 4, and everything after them moves along. Inserted pages keep their own size and orientation, so a landscape table can sit inside a portrait report.

You don't have to insert the whole second file. Choose just the pages you need, for example the two pages of an appendix, or a single signed page from a scan. Pages are copied without conversion, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality.

Related tools

To swap pages instead of adding them, use Replace PDF Pages. For general reordering after inserting, open the result in Organize PDF. Both documents are processed in your browser, and neither is uploaded.
