  2. Choose Flip horizontal to mirror left and right, or Flip vertical to mirror top and bottom.
  3. Check the preview; you can apply both directions if needed.
  4. Click to apply and download the flipped image.

Horizontal and vertical flips

A horizontal flip mirrors the image along its vertical centre line, swapping left and right, like looking in a mirror. A vertical flip mirrors it top to bottom. Flipping both ways gives the same result as rotating by 180°, while a single vertical flip is not a rotation: text and faces end up mirrored as well as upside down.

Common reasons to flip

Front cameras often save selfies mirrored, so writing on a T-shirt or sign reads backwards; a horizontal flip fixes that. Iron-on and sublimation transfers are printed mirrored so they read correctly once pressed. Designers flip product shots so items face into a layout, and vertical flips are handy for reflection effects. Flipped copies are also used to check the symmetry of faces, logos and layouts.

Output quality

PNG images are flipped losslessly and keep transparency. JPGs are re-encoded at high quality. To turn an image rather than mirror it, use Rotate Image, and for more edits in one place try the Image Editor.

Flipping is pixel-exact: no pixels are recalculated, they are only rearranged, so sharpness is completely unaffected and the width and height stay the same.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between flipping and rotating?

Flipping mirrors the image; rotating turns it. A rotated image never shows mirrored text, a flipped one does.

How do I fix a mirrored selfie?

Use Flip horizontal once; text in the photo will read correctly again.

Is transparency kept?

Yes. PNG and WebP transparency is preserved.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Flipping happens in your browser.
