How to convert PowerPoint to PDF
- Select your PowerPoint file or drop it onto the page.
- Read the notice: this tool uploads the file to our conversion server.
- Click convert. The file is uploaded over HTTPS, converted and returned to you.
- Download the PDF; the server copy has already been deleted.
Why this tool uses a server
Most tools on this site run entirely in your browser. PowerPoint files are the exception: reproducing slide layouts, themes, fonts, charts and SmartArt requires a full presentation engine that cannot practically run inside a web page. We would rather tell you plainly than offer a browser conversion that silently mangles your slides. This tool therefore sends your file to a conversion server running LibreOffice.
PowerPoint to PDF makes a presentation easy to share and print, because the PDF opens on any device without PowerPoint.
What happens to your file
- The file is uploaded only after you click convert, over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
- It is converted in a temporary folder and deleted as soon as the PDF has been sent back to you.
- Files are not stored, shared, indexed or used for any other purpose.
- If the conversion server is not enabled on this site, the tool says so before anything is uploaded.
Tips and alternatives
Animations, transitions, embedded video and audio cannot exist in a PDF; each slide is converted as a static page. Fonts not available on the server are replaced with similar ones, which can shift text slightly. If you have PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides, their built-in export to PDF is a fully offline alternative. To go the other way, use PDF to PowerPoint.
Frequently asked questions
Is my presentation uploaded?
Yes. This is one of the few tools that uses our server, because a browser cannot render PowerPoint layouts faithfully. The file is sent over HTTPS and deleted right after conversion.
Do you keep a copy of my slides?
No. The uploaded file and the generated PDF are removed from the server as soon as the conversion is complete.
Are animations kept?
No. PDF pages are static, so each slide is converted as it appears without animations or transitions.
Why does the tool say the server is unavailable?
The conversion server is optional and may not be enabled on this site, or it may be temporarily unreachable. Nothing is uploaded in that case.
Can I convert older .ppt files?
LibreOffice can usually convert older .ppt files as well as .pptx.
