How to convert PNG to JPG
- Drag your PNG files onto the upload area or click Select files.
- Set the Quality slider. Values between 85 and 92 keep photos looking original while saving space.
- Pick a background colour for transparent areas. White is the default and suits most documents and forms.
- Click Convert, then download each JPG or the whole batch as a ZIP.
Why convert PNG to JPG
PNG is lossless, which makes it perfect for graphics but wasteful for photographs. A photo saved as PNG can easily be several megabytes, while the same picture as a high-quality JPG is often a fraction of that size. JPG is also the most widely accepted image format: email clients, online application forms, print services and older software all handle it without trouble.
What happens to transparency
The JPG format has no transparency. Any transparent or semi-transparent pixels in your PNG are blended onto the background colour you choose, so soft edges and shadows still look smooth. Pick a colour that matches where the image will be shown, such as white for documents or your website's background colour.
If you need to keep the transparent background, stay with PNG or convert to WebP, which supports transparency and smaller files.
Choosing a quality setting
At 90 most people cannot tell the JPG from the original photo. Values between 75 and 85 save more space for web use. Screenshots, diagrams and images with sharp text are a weak spot for JPEG: you may see faint ripples around letters. For those, keep the PNG and shrink it with the PNG compressor instead.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose quality converting PNG to JPG?
JPG is a lossy format, so some detail is discarded. At a quality of 85–92 the difference is very hard to see in photos.
Why didn't my transparent background turn black?
Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you selected, white by default, instead of being left undefined.
How much smaller will my files be?
Photos usually shrink dramatically. Flat graphics with few colours may not shrink much, and can even grow, because PNG already stores them efficiently.
Can I convert a whole folder of PNG files?
Yes. Add up to 30 files per batch and download all of the JPGs in one ZIP archive.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser and the files never leave your device.
