Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 2026-11-07
These terms govern your use of PDF-Files.com at https://pdf-files.com (the "service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. The service
PDF-Files.com provides free online tools for working with PDF documents and images. Most tools run entirely in your web browser; some document conversions use our conversion server, as indicated on each tool page. No account is required and every tool is free for everyone. Each tool shows the file-size and batch limits that apply, which exist to keep processing reliable in a web browser.
2. Acceptable use
You agree to use the service lawfully and responsibly. In particular, you must not:
- process files that you do not have the right to use, copy, modify or convert;
- use the service to create, edit or distribute unlawful content, including content that infringes intellectual property, privacy or other rights, or that is fraudulent, defamatory or harmful;
- use the service to forge documents, signatures or records, or to misrepresent the origin of a document;
- use the password, unlock and permission tools on documents you do not own or are not authorised to access. These tools require the correct password and are not designed or permitted to bypass security you are not entitled to remove;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer for malicious purposes, or gain unauthorised access to the service or the conversion server, or use automated means to submit excessive requests;
- upload malware or files designed to exploit software vulnerabilities.
3. Your files and content
You keep all rights to the files you process and the results you create. We claim no ownership of them. Files processed in your browser never reach us. For server conversions, you grant us only the limited permission needed to convert the file and return the result to you; files are deleted immediately afterwards. You are responsible for the content of your files and for keeping your own copies. We do not provide backups.
4. Accuracy of results
Document conversion and editing are complex. Results can differ from the original, particularly for conversions between formats (for example PDF to Word or Word to PDF), OCR text recognition, compression and automatic background removal. Each tool describes its known limitations. Please check every output before relying on it, especially for legal, financial, medical or official purposes. Visual signatures added with the Sign PDF tool are not certificate-based digital signatures.
5. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available in every browser or on every device. We may change, add or remove tools, features and limits at any time. The optional conversion server may be unavailable on some deployments or at some times.
6. Advertising
The service may be supported by advertising. Advertisers are responsible for their own ads and websites. Interacting with an advertisement is entirely your choice; we never ask or reward you for clicking ads.
7. Third-party software
The service is built with open-source libraries, fonts and models, each provided under its own licence. A list of credits is on the About page. Nothing in these terms restricts rights you have under those licences.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDF-Files.com and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, documents, profits, revenue or business opportunities, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the service. Because the service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greatest extent the law allows. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you; nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from files you process or your breach of these terms, to the extent permitted by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be specified by the site operator], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country provides otherwise.
